She kept two sets of books.
One for life.
The other for death.
She managed the thoughts and feelings
That surrounded the reality
Of her impending death
At age fourteen:
An age that is supposed to be full
Of fun, camaraderie, and exciting possibilities.
Only the bravest of heroes can do this.
She’s our hero.
